Agora and Resonances Festival at Centre Pompidou

It's strange to know that while you are sitting in front of your laptop studing and doing your exams in the field of interaction, communication, virtual environments for cultural heritage, in Paris and precisely at the Centre Pompidou is running the Agora and Résonances Festival. United for the first time the two manifestations Agora and Resonances bring together all the Ircam (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique) teams in order to define a new policiy based on the convergence of creation and research. Conferences, installations, demonstrations and workshops with the most important artists and researchers in the field of music and interaction. So, from the 1 June until the 17, i would come to Paris and watch all the interesting stuff presented in this festival. But, i can't. Probably, i could be satisfied only by reading the documentation now available on http://mustica.ircam.fr/mustica/index.php the Ircam Technical Documentation Server and that's it! At least, i will continue to be sitting in front of my laptop, as you can image, looking for information and "knowledge".

SARAH KENKERDINE IN LUGANO PRESENTING THE VIRTUAL ROOM

In the last three days, Sarah Kenkerdine, special projects manager for Museum Victoria (Australia), has been presenting the VIRTUAL ROOM to Master TEC CH (University of Lugaqno), a "revolutionary visualization laboratory, interactive and immersive environment which allows museums and galleries to convey complex and challenging information to audiences in a variety of unique, innovative and engaging ways."
It consists of an eight screen 360° degere rear projected stereostopic display system; The virtual room can be also configured to be interactive with wands, motion tracking devices, movement and immersive qualities; another important enhancement can be obtained through the use of spatial audioscapes.

One of the unique aspects of the display system will allow participants to experience a changing perspective as they walk around whatever is contained within. In many cases the audience will be provided with the illusion that the entity (whatever it could be) is physicaqlly contained within the confines of the eight screens.

IN ROME THE FIRST WEB ART MUSEUM OF THE WORLD

The 23th of May, has been presented in Rome the WEB ART MOUSEUM, the first museum entirely dedicated to web art..
The project has born in 2003 by initiative of shockart.net, and the main objective of it is to create a space both physical and virtual for an exchange of artistic experiences, and to become a center of excellence for art and digital communication.
The creation of a well organized center will permit to spread, through an active and productive promotion, the digital culture; through works of international artists, aesthetich and structural innovations due to the use of technology, conceived as a tool for artistic creation and communication.
The main themes of the museum will be:

- Software art
- Net art e Hacker art
- Hardware art
- Digital video
- Video Live Performances
- Hypertext e Hypermediality
- Digital music, digital sound
